I installed a brand new MotoMeter 160MPH speedo in an '87 16V Scirocco
VDO 140MPH/8K cluster. It was a little tricky, because the circuitboard
inside the speedo had to be swapped to the new speedo. At first I thought
I'd have to get the needle and the speedo face off, but all I had to do
was unscrew the speedo face, and work the PCB in place.
I think it's the '82-84 VDO and Motometer clusters that are different,
but that's only from what I've read here.
Btw, the foil is different on 16V VDO's w/upshift light, versus the VDO's
with the temp gauge down by the fuel level gauge..
