ratios, why is the 2h a stepchild?

hi all,

Running the ratios on the scirocco.org gear chart, i doscovered soemthing
interesting...

speed @4k rpm

trans.	final	5th	speed
AGB	3.67	.91	78
2H	3.94	.91	73 
4K	3.94	.89	74

speed @ 5k RPM

trans.	final	5th	speed
AGB	3.67	.91	98
2H	3.94	.91	91 
4K	3.94	.89	93

So, there is a 1 MPH difference at 4k RPM between a 2H and a 4k, so why is
the 4k so much more popular, is there something i'm missing? 1 MPH @
4,000 and 2 MPH at 5,000 isnt a big difference to me, heck tires could
make that back up in variation between brands of the same size....
