160 mph speedo install
You do not need a different speedometer gear. The cable spins at the same
rate for a speed of, say, 70 mph no matter what speedo is in the car (85,
120, 140 or 160). I've had both a 160 and 140s in my car and there is no
need to change the speedometer gear. 1 being the easiest, I'd give this
maybe a 3. The Bentley has good instructions on how to remove the
cluster. take off the steering wheel, remove the garbage trays from under
the dash and the kick panel, undo the speedometer cable (its a squeeze
clip) from underneath, remove the cluster bezel, remove the screw holding
the cluster in place and then, finally, unplug the two connectors. The
connectors can be a bit of a PITA, but a small screwdriver works well to
"unlock" them. Pull out the cluster.
Make sure your "new" cluster has working bulbs in it before you put
everything back together. Install the cluster and plug in the
connectors. Turn on your lights. Also check to see if the clock
works. Many don't. They're easy to swap if you need to.
G'luck!
