Bar Gauge
'bar' is a unit of atmospheric pressure. 1 bar = 1 atmosphere = 14.7 psia
(absolute pressure)
'absolute' is where 0 would be a perfect vacuum (as in outer space, no pressure
at all).
'gauge' is different than absolute. gauge is where you compare the pressure to
the ambient (outside... air you are breathing) pressure.
if you have 'one bar gauge', you have 14.7 psig (gauge pressure), but since it
is compared with the ambient pressure, the absolute pressure measured would
actually be 2 bar (gauge reads one bar above ambient, which is itself one bar,
therefore 2 bar)... or 29.4 psia.
