DIY head porting with a dremel?
Another thing I forgot to add (I know, how could I have missed something
rambling on the way I do!!!) is that you will need to decide what you want
from the P/P. If the car isn't going to be driven much (like mine) then you
can go for the whole enchilada. This means cutting the valve stems,
deshrouding the valves, angle grinding the valves, polishing the combustion
chamber, milling the head 40 thousandths (!!!), and porting and polishing,
(which in my opinion, on a 16v head, is to smooth, smooth, smooth--make the
path of the air have the least amount of restrictions possible). Now in
some applications, velocity will also be something to consider!! With the
2.0L heads, they have smaller ports but flow better than the 1.8L heads
overall! But when you're trying to make a street monster (which is what I
did) then you'll want as much air as possible. You'll also want to take
into consideration what type of cams you plan on using!! HTH!
