Multi-layered-steel headgasket - yay or nay?

My friend Sean is looking for some answers... A speed shop in Toronto
mentioned that they carry a MLS headgasket (1.8) for roughly twice the
price of a dealer gasket...  The guy mentioned that they can be
re-used, and recommends them for turbo applications...

Anyone heard of these?  Are they 'bulletproof', or prone to leaking? 
Do they have the same compressed height?
