RE: dead horse spring question
I may have missed something along the way, so excuse if I'm flogging a dead
horse, so to speak - isn't the 16v heavier at the front? If so, it would be
quite possible that the weight difference is enough to make a stock 16v sit
10mm lower than a stock 8v even though the springs are strong enough to make
the same 8V sit higher than with stock 8v springs. Presumably, putting stock
8V springs on a 16v would give >10mm lowering when compared with the 8v. My
guess is that the 8v & 16v springs are roughly the same length but the 16v
springs are slightly higher spring rate. Does that make sense? Seems
strightforward enough to me.
Going back to the original question, the 8v neuspeeds are not stock so it's
possible that they may give better ride/performance when compared to stock
16v springs but probably won't be as ideal as neuspeed 16v springs. YMMV!
BTW, just to complicate things further, not all 8vs' are the same, at least
not over here (UK): stock injection models sit reasonably low, stock carbed
ones generally look like they're set-up to do the paris-dakar, by
comparison!
