Not to be a pessimist or anything, but I had the *totally stock* headunit
stolen from my '85 Scirocco back when I lived in the less-desirable part of
town.  Don't get me wrong--I think that "plain" is the way to go.

I plan to go totally stealth with my '84.  I'm going to remove the headunit
altogether (space for a second 3-guage panel) and feed the line-level out of
my portable MP3/CD player into a remotely-mounted amp.  To top it off, I'll
remove the fender antenna and plug the hole.  Who needs radio, anyway?  :)

The MP3/CD player will go with me when I park the car, and there should be
no visible signs of ICE at all...
