Well, black smoke would say to me that you are running way too rich.
Although, if it is "pouring" out black smoke, maybe something else is
going on too...my experience with running rich is that the car will
put out a little cloud at high rpm shifts, not all the time...
this almost sounds like Josh's car when I was following him around
at WF this year...his 2.0 16v really put out some black smoke when he
would accel hard.  Seemed to me that it was putting out too much black
smoke for it to be "just running too rich"... 

Josh, did you figure out what the deal was with your engine???

 Dude!  You've gotta bring the 16v!  Why not dyno the 16v?
I really shouldn't be talking, cause the way things are looking I'll
be bringing my VR6 Passat...doubt the rocco will back in one piece
by then.  I am going to be doing the insurance battle this week along
with getting estimates done, so my 16v won't even get worked on for at
least another week I imagine. :(

Well, whatever car you bring is cool...regardless it's just great that 
you can come!  ;)
