RE: cutting out

Welcome Christian,

When you say cutting out, do you mean the engine shutdown (stalls?)
or it has no more spark (you slow down and the car starts working
again)?

I think you might want to check your the fuel pump (you are using a
mechanical one with your carbs right ?)

I ask because I have followed a few threads on alt.vw.uk... and
guys have been slapping carbs with the electric (made for fuel
injection) pumps and cutting out could be one of the symptoms (bad
pressure).  I am unsure of the part # of either as I am not aware
of a carbed 89 rocco, but if you get the part number on the pump, I
can tell you where it comes from.(carbed/FI)
