I'm not sure but this might be me that was talking about braided hose
covering.
If so, I am using a plastic version (not metal) for all my hoses
The stuff I found only came in black at the local computer store(actually
used for wire sheathing).
It was not cheap but maybe less expensive than the kit you talked about.
What I used was 4 different packages (different sizes) for all my hoses.
I think each package was about <$10ea. and each had a qty of 5ft (larger
covers) to 15ft (smaller covers).
I used the hose clamps to hide the ends or used black wire ties on the
vacuum lines.
