Daun,
    Intermittent short through plastic of distributor rotor (spark partially
goes to distributor shaft). Try changing/swapping it just to be sure. Would
make spark weak enough to not start, as it has another path. I had this
problem on a rocco, took a week to find. Note: crack will NOT be visible.
    Else, if you smell fuel, could it be running rich? Unplug cold start
valve and give it a couple of tries.
Worth a shot at least.
