Just to fight petty ridiculousness with the same, wouldn't that be like,
advertising for VW? And thus should we not request recompense for said
same advertisement?

Indeed. I think tonight I will draft a letter to VWoA, and put it somewhere
where we can all look at it, and decide if you want to use it as a model.
Something that explains our realization that they must pursue valid
copyright infringements to protect their claims to the copyright, but that
heavy-handed letters such as the one that Dirk received squash the
enthusiasm we as enthusiasts can generate for the brand and our abillity
to convince others to buy VW. If they are going to hire trolls like this
doofus on Elmwood to not do a thorough job to ensure that the site is not
a sales vehicle but a declaration of brand loyalty, they do themselves a
huge disservice.
