The idea though is to make it affordable.  Even though the TT is built on the NB platform, it's still something like $38-40K.  The NB is $19K.  Why?  Build something wilder than the NB, but, not quite up to the TT trim level on the POLO (read: smaller) platform and make it even more ground hugging than the TT which still looks a little chunky to me.  The idea is light, yet powerful (hence Polo VR6 platform) with good styling for a reasonable price.
