{ot} more on the cabby

Took a look at it today.  Great body, no rust or dents at all, top has a few
rips that are taped up, I didnšt see any leakage (it was raining today too),
or signs of rust inside where ppl told me to look.  Original cover for the
top too.  No door sag, doors shut fine windows seem to seal tight against
the roof.  Interior is in ok shape - few rips in drivers seat, missing
ashtray completely, dirty carpets, blah blah.

Engine - as dirty as my Scirocco's :P  transmission (auto) was smooth.
Needs new front struts which of course he'll fix before the sale.  No damage
around strut towers.  120k on the odometer.  Has ac, not working of course.

So I dunno, I pretty much trust this mechanic, he's been maintaining the car
for years for the PO.  Can probably get it for around $2000 - is that fair?
And how much does a new top cost anyhow?  Something that can be done by me,
cause I know they can be had from catalogs.
