Re: stereo wiring

Usually, better car radios have two power wires, one to feed the clock
and memory, one to feed teh dial, the rest of the electronics. You need
to find which wire feeds the rest of the electronics. This is the one
you want to connect to switched power.

Then you need to tap a source of switched power, not obvious if you
don't have the Bentley.

In a Jiffy, you can get (low) power off the glove compartment wire.
That is protected by a 10 amp fuse (#20). That should be safe enough for
the standard issue radio.

If you need more power, try the fresh air fan, with a 20 amp fuse
(#14).

Remember though, that circuit is already shared by other components,
so you may pop fuses more often if you really overdo it.

You can also tap the fuse box with a Littelfuse "ATO Add-A-Circuit",
pn OFHA0200ZP. That will let you add a 10 amp circuit in parallel to an
existing fused circuit, without cutting wires. But that is for a max of
10 amps. In a perfect world, 10 amps would mean 120 watts at 12 volts,
but there are always power losses.

Hope this puts you on the right track.
