RE: GTI vs GTI or Geordy vs VW

I'll put in another vote for the GLS.
I bought mine last October, and it has been almost perfect.  The engine
is superb for almost everything (its high end power leaves something to
be desired).  I never really considered the VR6 (never even drove it). 
I didn't want all the creature comnforts or the weight penalty.  I
can't think of a better daily driver for me than my GTI.  Of course I
still had to go out and get a scirocco to get a rawer car for
beating/auto-xing etc.
