RE:16v oil pressure problem
Thanks for all of the quick replies!
The idiot light & buzzer do NOT come on at less than 2K, only if that
is exceeded.
The oil is Castrol, I do not know what brand the filter is but it's
been on there for about 2K miles and the problem just started.
If the car is under load and I put in the clutch before it drops to
2K RPM, no buzzer.
Simply increasing the RPM to about 2200 will make the buzzer stop if
it comes on.
One curious thing that may or may not be relevant- this car from day
one (I am the original owner) always burned about a quart of oil
every 1800 or so miles. When the problem first started, the first
thing I checked was the oil level- it was completely full. I don't
know why the car would suddenly STOP burning oil.
I'm bringing the car to my mechanic on Thursday to use his mechanical
gauge- just wanted to have an idea what it might be before I get
there.
Thanks again
Alex
