This may not be it, since you have probably been using the same oil and 
filter for 13 years.

Are you using an OEM oil filter?  Some brands (i.e. Fram) that fit our cars 
do not include an anti-drainback valve which can cause this problem.  Also, 
what type of oil are you using?
