Cinci to Maine, the best route

Hi Everyone,

This weekend I will be driving from Cincinnati, OH to
Maine.  I was wondering if any new englanders have
made the trip in the past.  I have been getting
directions that take me trough southern PA then
through NYC.  I am wondering if it would be faster to
stay to the north and go trough rochester NY then east
and go though western mass.  It may also be helpful
because there may or may not be another noreaster that
would dump snow along the coast.  

Any info is appreciated, oh and yes I am picking up
another car.
