CA guys...need a crankshaft.
If anyone in CA (north or south) knows where I could get a 9A crank...that would make my month. I don't want to buy another block if I don't have to.
I just found out that the block I bought has a screwed up crankshaft. Apparently a piece of a main seal fell between the main journal and a counterweight on the crankshaft and it started eating away at the thrust bearing and the wearing surface on the crankshaft. I think my block is okay, since the metal where the thrust bearing seats appears to be OK. But I don't want to try to get the crank repaired, I'm not a big fan of welding on forged crankshafts...
You can bet I called the guy I bought it from (he was in LA) and asked what was up. He was actually decent about it and decided to send me half my money back (I spent $400 on the engine).
TIA,
Joe
