Koni struts, swap from '81 S to '88 16v?

I have Koni's on my '81 S.  I went outside, and was looking at my 16v on my
smoke break (ok, so I like the car.).  I know the struts are a bit worn, and
it hit me - I have Koni's on the '81, and neuspeed springs.  Can I swap them
from one car to the other, or can I only swap just the strut, or am I
delusional?
