Tech [oil pan removal on car]
hello folks, i've been off the list for over a year,
anyway . . .
about a month ago I finished swapping in a JH
longblock and and a FF tranny into Kristen's '78. It
runs great but the oil pan gasket was leaking. I've
never needed to replace one with the motor on the car.
I was concerned about the two bolds next to the trans,
but folks assured me it was no big deal.
It certainly was a PITA! With a 1/4" drive extender I
was able to get the two bolts in question out (along
with the rest). They were loose anyway. Off came the
old cork and I was now ready to install the new rubber
and metal gasket (courtesy of Adirondack). I was able
to get both of those bolts threaded, but only one of
them tightened.
Anybody have any tips to as to a good tool to tighten
this sucker?
No leaks so far . . .
I think I'll replace this gasket on any future used
motors before installation (duh?)
thanks!
