What did you do to temper the steel?  One cool
thing about steel, is it bends instead of breaking
(depending on a LOT of factors).  In the case of a
sway bar, once you twist it enough, it may stay
twisted.

Normal driving arround might not put enough twist
in to permanantly alter it's shape, but parking on
a banking, or getting jacked up near a front wheel
might go beyond the limits of your steel.

We experimented with ordinary steel sway bars on
R/C cars.  They worked OK until
the car took a hit in an accident.  After the
accident, the bar would bend and alter the preload
on the wheels.
