Here's my little tale...

I decided on the 4th that I'd go ahead and replace the
flexpipe on my '85 (4-2 exhaust) since it had a small crack
and was leaking at the joint to the cat. FINALLY got the
damn rusted bolts off (had to remove the cat as well) and
then got the flexpipe / cat separated. Turns out the
flange for the cat is practically gone, so that's two
things that need replaced. (Parts cars come in really
handy...) However, in order to make the "new" cat /
flexpipe fit, I'll have to rotate the next pipe back, which
is of course rusted to the rest of the exhaust system...

Needless to say, the car is still sitting up on blocks in
the garage, tempting me to just order a whole new
Techtonics system from Peter and be done with it.
(Probably about $150 for cat-back)

its got around 110,000 miles on it (though

Gee there's a surprise, a Scirocco with a broken odometer.
;p

Yes, I believe there is a tech-procedure listed on
scirocco.org on how to fix this.

 should i replace the

Why? Is there a problem? JH engines seem to be pretty
bulletproof - mine's got over 210k and hardly uses a drop
of fluids.

Do the basics, cap / rotor / plugs / wires / change the
fluids & filters (No Fram crap!) and enjoy your new ride.
