as insurance, i bought a 2.0L 16v longblock after
my timing belt snapped, since i was going to upgrade to a 2.0 in the spring
anyway. now i have an extra 16v head, and am toying around with getting it
ported and polished and then throwing the whole thing in and living happily ever
after. so...
1) raven's book claims that the 1.8 head flows
better than the 2.0, and gives something like 10 extra hp on the 9a block. i'd
assume that head work would yield the same final numbers no matter which head i
had worked; is that true? would i be better off doing the 1.8? i'd like to do
the 2.0L head since it's not on my car, and since it has 15-20k fewer miles than
my 1.8 does.
2) any experiences on who does a good job (esp in
atlanta), and how much in general i should expect to pay?
3) what kind of hp can i expect out of this swap,
using my cis-e (otherwise stock 'cept exhaust)? anyone dyno'd this setup? i'm
guessing at least 140 hp, maybe closer to 150 :) ? i would guess that that would
make for a very fun, fast car... tia,
