I said Shift linkage not clutch cable. 2 different things,
if the clutch cable is functional and the shift linkage is not, the clutch
feels fine the stick shift will
work into positions but the linkage is not transmitting the shifter changes
to the tranny, thus leaving it into neutral.

The cv joint has nothing close or by far any relation with
transmission/shifting problems in any case.
