a few things learned... (a.k.a. "drunken babble")
Well, I learned a few things today. I decided to do my final "winter
cleaning" of my three cars, which involves washing, waxing, etc... These
lessons were all learned while cleaning my 944, but I figure they will
all apply to Sciroccos, too...
BTW, I've had a few beers and several shots of "Stroh 80" (a particular
brand of rum, where "80" refers to the percentage of alcohol, not proof.)
So this, as we all know, will make the most trivial of things seem
relavent. That said, I apologize in advance for the waste of bandwidth.
1) "Zymol will mold." Seriously, I pulled out my trusty $20 pint of
Zymol, only to realize that it was now a lavish ecosystem of mildew.
Fortunately, I had a container of Armor All wax which, while probably not
as good (well, at least it's cheaper), it got me by in a pinch.
2) "Rearview mirrors are suprisingly easy to knock off." As I was
washing the inside of the windshield, I knocked off the rearview mirror.
3) "The little mirror mount will slide down the window." I went to
re-install the mirror with epoxy. I dutifully marked off the mounting
point with tape, scraped off the old glue, and cleaned off the area. I
applied the glue, and held the mirror mount to the windsheild for a few
minutes. Once I took my hand off, I noticed the mount start to slide
down the inside of the windshield, leaving a "snail trail" path of
epoxy-slime behind it. Well, after honking several times, one of my
roommates came out to see why some raging sociopath was honking the horn,
and she gave me a piece of tape that I used to hold the mirror mount
still.
4) "Roommates will used my headlights to mow the lawn at night." OK, you
all probably don't care about that. Yeah, it does put a drain on the
battery, but it's better than having him mow his own foot off, so all
things considered, it's better that I did that.
Later, and sorry for the rambling...
