Cold Start Troubles

Hey everyone,
  I have a cold-starting issue...(my '81 w/ 1.8 JH, CIS)
This past summer I noticed when I would start the car that,
after running a few seconds, the idle would drop a little and then
go back to normal...and then cycle through this a few more times
before the engine warmed up...and then everything was fine.
Well, now that the temp has gotten colder here (like 30 F in the
mornings) the car does not like to stay running.  It will start
fine, but then like in the summer the idle will drop, but now
the idle drops and the car stalls... I can re-start it fine, but
it will stall again within a few more seconds.  However, once I
start it and then rev it above 2500 rpm for about 30 seconds I 
can get it to stay running on its own.  Once the engine warms 
I never have any problems...
  So, any ideas?
