Non Rocco Passat Vr6 Question

One of my buddies has a Passat Vr6 97 vintage and he wants to know how to 
reset his check engine light.  Is it a quick button like our OXS light that 
he can do himself or is it more involved.  If ya know, let me know, thanks.
