I had a similar problem with my '90 Corrado. There is a procedure on the CCA
website that describes how to fix the problem. In a nutshell, you will remove
the base of the antenna from the roof, unscrew the base and remove the
amplifier. Then, you simply solder a connection to fill the void left by the
amp. After removing the defective amp, my reception improved considerably.
