speedo not working

so i got my cluster back in with my new guage faces (which look awesome...thanks brett!!!!!)...the only problem is my speedometer doesn't work...the odometer does however...what should i be looking for when i go back in there...could it be the speedo cable isn't on fully, or would this cause the odometer to not work too?...could it be i didn't press the needle on the shaft fully?...the speedometer did work before i took the cluster apart...it's an 88 16v rocco
