Re: All this "done with VW's" crap



Seems like the biggest problem with VW's is that if you get a car a a cheap 
price that was NEVER maintained unless something broke, that all sorts of 
things reach their failure point at the same time.  This can make a cheap car 
suddenly expensive in a big way.  The only good part is that once you DO 
replace these things, they should last you a good number of years.  I got my 
86 8V for free (bad timing belt) and this car had little to no maintenance 
history.  But, once I started going through it system by system, it's been a 
VERY cheap car to fix and operate.  Now I'm even doing mods along the way as 
I fix things.  Oh, well...I guess it can get frustrating, but, I knew what I 
was getting into and I looked at the bigger picture.

On the other hand, our Nissan truck is reliable as a toaster...problem is the 
payments are $370/month.  It's all a tradeoff.
