Ummmmmm...I'm kind of confused by your message...if it's an 82 then it
shouldn't have an "in tank" pump, only the one outside the tank. As far as
the "mechanical fuel pump" between the fuel filter and the block...are you
talking about a big piece of equipment that has a black sorta square piece
mounted on top with five braided fuel lines coming out the top (four of which
go to the injectors in the head) and a big rubber boot that attaches to a
plastic duct that runs to the intake? If you are, then that is the airflow
sensor/fuel distributor and they rarely just "go out" suddenly. And even so,
it would hardly be available at a NAPA for $275...now if you're talking about
a small cylindrical object between the fuel distributor and the fuel return
line that looks like a multiport injector, that is the frequency valve which
is hooked up to the OXS computer and adjusts the mixture...
I guess we really need more information to really help you...
