RE: coolant fan - 60w or 120w?
Yes, my '84 had this problem, but it's because the PO didn't see the need
for a clamp to hold the battery down. Sometime before I got the car, the
battery had slid off the tray with enough force to snap the terminals off
the fan. I just kept a close eye on the coolant gauge and didn't drive in
traffic much. If I was moving at 40 or so, I was fine. I didn't do much
hot weather driving, and I don't think it would have fared well if I did.
The different fans are probably for A/C and non-A/C. The fan with A/C would
be the higher power rating, based on the information I turned up when I was
thinking about replacing mine.
I would recommend getting one from a junkyard or lister, as I'm sure it will
be much cheaper than new.
