ignition timing prob...pls help
I'm sorry to bug with my non-stop questions, but I really want to get my car
running. Here's my latest issue:
The car does indeed run now. The only problem is I believe it's running
lean (plugs are white, not glazed yellow or brown, gets hot fairly quick,
exhaust isn't black and smelly, etc) and the firing timing is waaaaay off,
and I don't know what to do about it. The distributor is advanced all the
way, that's where it runs best. The cam-to-crank timing is correct. The
car's throttle response is ass. You have to give it WOT, and it takes it
2-3 seconds for it to get to 3k rpm. When you let off the throttle from 3k
it backfires too.
Stuff wrong with the car that might affect this:
leaky fuel distributor (from plunger, doesn't leak bad)
ignition switch at key (doesn't always catch on return from starter)
cat is blown out (loud exhaust but no holes)
I really need someone to draw me up a vacuum hose diagram because I don't
even know if my hoses are hooked up right, the dumb chiltons doesn't even
include 16v vacuum diagrams. Plus I need someone to tell me if the third
sensor in the oil filter adapter closest to the radiator should be hooked
up, cuz mine aint. Can anyone help me on any of this stuff? I'm new to all
this CIS-E tuning stuff.
