Tranny reverse light help!
Ok due to the almosy non-existant nature of a Scirocco in my hometown of
Mobile, Alabama I put a tranny out of an 84 Jetta in my Scirocco 5 years
ago. The pins on the back-up lights are different so the lights no longer
work. Well I hot wired them to a little lighted switch under the dash so
that I could turn them on when needed. Only thing is I have moved and the
way I have it wired is not authorized by vehicle inspection. So if you have
a Jetta (any >80s model should do) would you take a look and help me out
with the info I need so that I can wire my back up lights to work when I
shift into reverse.
the connecter has slots for 8 pins. The Scirocco (at least mine) has only 5
pins, the Jetta tranny has 6 or 7. The pins are numbered on the plastic
connector under the rubber boot. If you would give me the wire colors for
each number on the connect.
Example
Scirocco Jetta
1 2 3 4 1 2 3 4
__________ __________
------------- -----------
5 6 7 8 5 6 7 8
This may not be exactly right I won't be able to check for 2 weeks. Any
advice is appreciated. If I don't get it rewired the only alternative is to
get a new Scirocco tranny.
The info I need is like:
1 -- red
2 -- black with green stripe
3 -- none
4 -- brown
etc.
I can't even drive the car on the streets until I get the lights to work
like they are supposed to.
Help get a Scirocco back on the road.
TIA
