Re: ?'s bout a 2 liter motor
The 1.8L bottom end and the 2.0L head are not it high demand but are still
worth something. If you get the whole 2.0L motor, manifolds to oil pan,
then I would keep the things that are applicable (breather, oil filther
housing, oil cooler, waterpump housing, etc.). The intakes will be worth
something (I have a upper and lower from a 2.0L in case I convert to
motronic, plus the runners are 2.5mm bigger than stock scirocco runners).
The head is worth it's parts to us, or someone might be interested in the
whole thing. I ended up taking the valves, springs, cams, etc. out of mine
and sending the core head to scrap! The block!!! This can be fun. I am in
the process of building a 8v with a 16v block. I will swap everything over
(pistons, intermediate shaft, distributor parts, etc.) and have a tough cool
running 8v motor. I will overhaul it at the same time of course so I would
suspect with the oil squirters on the bottom of the pistons that this should
run over 200k miles!! Plus, the 1.8 16v block seems like it would be a
great candidate for a high performance 8v motor (turbo, etc.). With the
right pistons, etc. it should do well. Anyway, my .02!!!
