[mk1-8v] HELP with parts questions
ok all you awesome people....
i got 2 8v exhaust manifolds, both 4-2..now, the
one i got in my 'g60 conversion kit' the 2 exhaust
ports exit lined up to cyl 2 and 3 ..ie right in
the middle of the block. I have another one.. i THINK
was on the G60 to begin with and it exits ports line
up with cyl number3 ..ie towards the drivers side.
now this one's exit ports are 1.6" while the first one
i mentioned is only 1.43". Obviously i'll want to use
the larger diameter manifold, but what does this mean
as far as my downpipe options are concerned? will I
have to use a G60 downpipe? will a 16v one work? or
one by techtonics? or do i stick with the smaller one
and stock 2-1 scirocco downpipe (might be too restrictive)?
also what about this 'harmonic balancer' on the crank
pully. there is a heavy weight attached to the Vbelt
pully that sits inside of the serpentine belt pully on
my crankshaft. i was planning on ditching this weight
because its unnecessary as im running no vbelts, only
the serpentine belt. but my buddy said that this weight
is needed to keep engine vibrations down, and he said that
on fords and chevys he s tried to remove it and it caused
a lot of engine shake..is this true for our cars? thanks
i canlive with vibration, but i dont want to ruin my crank!
