RE: oil temp gauge installation

The oil temp sensor is on the oil filter flange. It is in front of the 
pressure sender. 

The oil temp gauge was stock on my 85 (&others, I'm sure. Including most 
A1 GTi's), so if you can find a freshly junked one, it should still have 
the gauge and sensor. I'm not sure if your car has the sensor on there 
right now. It might, and then you'd just have to wire it in. Quick and 
easy.
