Tinted (painted) tail lights.

Okay..............stupid question time. I just tinted (painted) my tail
lights orangeish red.......after applying equal coats....my D/side has now
come out maybe one shade darker.....it is harder to see the light thrugh
the lense. Now I know I'm gonna get flamed for this.................but I'm
asking anyway .....after it has dried (only one day old) is there any way
of lightening the colour some?? My P/side is easily seen (a little duller
than normal lense) in the daylight. I haven't done a night test as I have
just put them on. Any ideas?? And please, go easy on me when you laugh your
ass off.
