Whell Ben my man, I'm sorry to inform you of this, but.... After a while, VW
hatch locks and trunk locks go to shit, I dont know why, they just do. Every VW
I have had messes up there one way or the other, either it wont lock and or
unlock, or won't open, or wont snap closed, this really pissed me off till I
learned to just accept it, I dont know if it is still a problem in newer ones
considering the newest I have ever owned was a 85, but I know that all my
friends have had this problem too, the good part is, you can take a evening and
totally rebuild it, its is easy and self explanitory, just clean and lube the
parts and reinstall, that should fix it, it has worked for me any ways, just be
carefull of the spring in there. worst situation you might have to go and find
one in a junk yard and swap bad parts, but I doubt it.
