Re: [Non-Roc] A2 Jet has cold worrking TACH - WTH?
I've had three experiences with cold-specific electrics - two were tach
related (84 GLI and 85 Golf GL) and one, on the Scirocco, was the speed
sensor for the mfa. I solved the problems on the scirocco (wouldn't work
when cold) and the Golf (wouldn't work when hot) by fizing loose
connections. The 'roc had 3 pins that pressed down on the PC board at the
speedo connector - I cleaned, greased (light coat of dielectric) and
shored the connector with a small piece of platic bag (so the pins would
rpess down harder on the pc board). The Golf I fixed by tightening the
nuts that hold the various guages in the instrument cluster (perhaps one
of yours has worked loose a bit?) The 84 GLI's problem seemed to be
independent of any of the above problems - and was probably internal. I
stuck an A2 dash and cluster in it to solve the problem... :)
