Not a fun process, but check your 1) Ball joints 2) Wheel Bearings 3)
Strut Bearings
How is your alignment? Also if your struts and springs are shot, that
could have an effect too.

Alright, a question for all you suspension geniuses. I have an
87 8v stock
w/ 14" GTI wheels. When I get to about 65-70 MPH, it develops a
shudder in
the front end. The shudder is more of a side-to-side, not
up-and-down.
This gets worst at about 75, and is noticably worse when
decelerating (just
coasting, no brakes). I have rotated the tires around with no
effect. What
should I look at next? TIA
