I have done this conversion already to my '82 Scirocco and did nothing with
the proportioning valve. I have had it almost a year, and have seen no
problems in braking, even during cornering. The only thing I had to do was buy
stainless lines to extend the existing brake lines. (with some slight bending
of the existing steel lines)
