Sal-
You were the person to get the Free Jetta, no?
My 84 Jetta GLI does the same thing with that damn oil light. It flashes 
and increases with RPM, but it's completely random.  If I smack the 
dashboard like Fonzee- it stops for about 3 seconds...

Keep me posted if you figured anything out!
