I put my switches in the center console ala Audi Coupe. In fact, that's
what I got the wiring harness out of. I had the Coupe power units in it
as well until one of then burned out, then I switched to Jetta units
which fit my door alot better. It still took a little sawing and
filling though. Before I get flamed by people wondering why I just
didn't get Scirocco units, let me say that Roccos are few and far
between in parts yards in Texas. You take what ever works.
Anyway, I CAREFULLY cut holes in the part of the central console just
aft of the stick and the switcheds popped right in. Easy. And It's
great having the switches in the middle where both driver and passenger
can roll down both windows.
As for the holes in the door that I left from the crank, well, I was
going to put tweeters there at one point, but I never got arround to
it. You know the bar ends you find on the end of handlebars on a
bicycle? That's what I got in there now. They look cool and discrete,
and nobody can tell that they're bar ends.
I know this was discussed a while back, but I loved my Audi Coupe. It
was like driving a grown up Rocco. Lots of room, power, and style. Oh
yeah, and lots of money. Parts for it cost me out the ***. I paid $40
for a piece of hose once. Finally the oil pump went out and that was
it. I got back to basics and bought another Rocco and never looked
back.
