cold starts - questions

Hi,

It's wintertime here and I'll get my ski-rack on the roof soon, :)

At the same time - it' wintertime here and :(
My car has starting problems. It takes 15min to get it going. Not to
mention I have emptied my battery twice (On the exactly same parking lot -
I'll never go near it!). It starts, runs for 10 sec and stalls. Sometimes
it won't start at all, just makes a few promising sounds and then just goes
around. The next time I turn the key - it happens again. A promise first -
then nothing.

Now the questions:
The cold start valve - at what temp it is supposed to start working?
What is the "normal" rpm when engine is cold?
The 3 sec buzz from fuel pump - my fuel pump makes a constant buzz - is it
a problem?
I have disconnected the wires from the cont. press. regulator so it only
works in accordance with engine heat. Connecting them does not change
anything while the engine is cold, but it killes the horses when hot.

Any answers or suggestions highly appreciated!
BTW the car has Bosch 4-electrode plugs, new lines, new distributer, new
distributer cap, new gas filter, sufficient psi ... and it had the front
bumper fixed today. Still not working.
