Transmission Woes

Hello, Eric here, new to the list.
	I'm in a quandry. I desparately need a tranny for my '86 8V. I'm looking
at a 90 Jetta tranny, not sure of the tranny code, but I need one quick.
Is anybody in the New York City/Long Island area and know of a decent
tranny that is available. My old one machined itself to death and my
current one was a backyard special to hold me over (it's about to blow
up).
