Well, I was refering to his racing on a circle track. In the scenerio you
describe, I completely agree with you. I often run 7,500-8,000 rpm in my
Scirocco while on the autox track simply because I dont want to upshift s
ince the next turn is right in my face and it wouldnt be worth it, so i ride
it out then feel bad about it later.
On a circle track, you try and make the gearing to where you are running top
rpmjust as you are lifting to go into the next turn. Its just a on/off cycle
with the throttle. Turning more rpms than is neccessary hurts the motor. (A
great examply of this is the IRL series and their plethera of blown motors
from turning just a little too much rpm.)
Anyways, HTH!
